Happy Birthday Jesus... and Merry Christmas to all!

Well, the morning has come and gone... the smell of turkey roasting in the oven is wafing through the house, the kids are all off playing with new toys and building gadgets with Blaine. Everything is ready to go for turkey dinner, veggies are peeled and cut, and we're just snackin' all day long!

Santa was good to everyone at my house this year! Blaine got a big air compressor with tons of attachments and tools, I got TWO new cartridges for my Cricut and a remote starter for my van, and Donovan bought me a foot spa/massager... I think it was more for him than me, because he is the BEST foot massager on the planet, so now he figures he gets out of it! LOL!

The boys are outfitted from head to toe with paintball guns, gear and ammo! Too bad we didn't read until too late that the CO2 canisters aren't filled, and they need them filled in order for their guns to work... bummer! Oh well, they're busy putting together the gym equipment that Grandpa Moston got them for Christmas.

The girls have so much stuff I can't even begin to tell you what they got! Some highlights include the Biggest Little Pet Shop for Dakota, a nail spa for Devin, a VCR/DVD combo for their room, tons of clothes, make up, and X-box games...

Here's a few photos to share from this morning:

Before the paper was flying!

It's a beautiful day here today... sun is shining, the birds are singing and all is well in our world! Another reminder to remember the reason for the season! Praise and thanks to our Lord God for being so good to us this past year!

"Twas the Night before Christmas...

and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse... Isn't he cute? I couldn't resist! :o)

Well, not everyone is in bed yet! We just finished watching the original "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" movie. Grandpa Moston and Blaine are watching the end of Scrooge. Willy's crackin' nuts in the kitchen... the girls are already snug in their beds with visions of sugar plums dancin' in their heads... Donovan and Kirby have already gone to bed, but I doubt they're sleeping! I have presents to wrap and stockings to fill.... as usual, a whirlwind Christmas eve!

Early today, we hit the tobogganing slopes with Auntie Kathy, Uncle Serge, Morgan and Brandon. The kids had a blast, regardless of the fact that the hill was pretty well sheer ice and the dads had more fun than the kids did I'm sure! Kath and I laughed ourselves silly at the kids and their dads sledding down the hills, screaming their heads off... Morgan and Dakota had the best time... I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow... for some reason, it's not letting me add another one right now! :o(

After supper tonight, we drove into the city to drive through Candy Cane Lane and take some pictures of the lights. As usual, the residents in this area of the city did a great job of lighting up the streets and their houses. Grandpa was quite impressed by the show of lights...

The kids opened up their Christmas PJ's from Great Grandma Ashe... a Christmas eve tradition in our house since I was a child. Everyone was quite happy and surprised (Do ya think Kirby was playing to the camera a little bit? LOL!) with their new Christmas PJ's...

And so it begins... the mad rush in the morning, the paper tearing, the squeals, the smiles, the laughter... I'll leave you with the words to my favorite Grinch Christmas song...

Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze!
Welcome Christmas, Come this way!
Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze!
Welcome Christmas, Christmas Day.

Welcome, Welcome
Fah who rah-moose
Welcome, Welcome
Dah who dah-moose
Christmas day is in our grasp
So long as we have hands to clasp

Fah who for-aze!
Dah who dor-aze!
Welcome, welcome Christmas
Welcome, welcome Christmas Day

So Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!

My bad....

So sorry for not posting in the last few days! The days before Christmas always seem to go by in such a blur! Last minute shopping, gift wrapping, baking... all to be done and so little time to do it in! I never imagined that working part time would take away so many hours I spent doing other things! C'est la vie!

Lots going on lately... Donovan went to the dentist in Quesnel today. We thought for a pre-op for his braces, but I guess it wasn't because he had two fillings done and I wasn't happy because they put SILVER fillings in and all my kids have the white kind! I guess that tid-bit of info got lost in his file, because when the receptionist checked, all the other kids are noted. So now, he gets to have them out and re-filled on February 14th, when he gets his spacers in. Then on the 21st, it's the big day! BRACES! But not to straighten teeth - his are straight. He has a pretty bad overbite that is causing damage to his lower teeth fronts so they'll correct that. It will be a big adjustment for Mr. Popcorn lover!

Hockey is marching along... as well as the never-ending fundraising! We were supposed to have this weekend off, so I scheduled Dylan for a lacrosse event on Saturday, and then it's decided that the team would be doing one more day of firewood before the holidays... but, we won't be there as I've already paid for lacrosse. We still have TONS of darned tickets to sell... anyone want to buy one or even two???

The girls Christmas concert is tomorrow... that always signals the start of Christmas for me! Nothing like all those kiddies singing their little hearts out to get me in the mood! Then they're going roller skating and have pot lucks on Friday and then school's OUT! Woohoo! The boys are more low key at school in regards to Christmas, but they're glad to have a bit of a break coming up. Kirby wants more snow for boarding, and Dylan wants the temperature to plummet so that the ice rink in the back yard will take and he can skate on in it in the new year!

I won a new cartridge for my Cricut on Ebay last night... $54 CAD in comparison to $99 up here! And that included the shipping and exchange rate! Woohooo! I can't wait to really get in there and play with it. I just haven't had the time yet to fully appreciate all this baby can do! I have visions of layouts dancing in my head... can't wait to get them down on paper soon!

Well, my eyes are crossing... time for bed and bath! Or rather, the other way around I guess! LOL! Night!

The **~magic~** of Santa Claus...

I got this in an email the other day, and wanted to share... one more reason to celebrate the season...

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid. I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her. On the way my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus," she jeered. "Even dummies know that!"
My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to her that day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of her "world-famous" cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous, because Grandma said so. It had to be true.
Grandma was home and the buns were still warm. Between bites, I told her everything. She was ready for me. "No Santa Claus?" she snorted.... "Ridiculous! Don't believe it. That rumor has been going around for years, and it makes me mad, plain mad!! Now, put on your coat, and let's go." "Go? Go where, Grandma?" I asked. I hadn't even finished my second world-famous cinnamon bun.
"Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we walked through its doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars. That was a bundle in those days. "Take this money," she said, "and buy something for someone who needs it I'll wait for you in the car." Then she turned and walked out of Kerby's.
I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my mother, but I never had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of people scrambling to finish their Christmas shopping. For a few moments I just stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill, wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for. I thought of everybody I knew: my family, my friends, my neighbors, the kids at school, the people who went to my church. I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker. He was a kid with bad breath and messy hair, and he sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock's grade-two class.
Bobby Decker didn't have a coat. I knew that because he never went out to recess during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we kids knew that Bobby Decker didn't have a cough; he didn't have a good coat. I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growing excitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat! I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. It looked real warm, and he would like that.
"Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes, ma'am," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby." The nice lady smiled at me, as I told her about how Bobby really needed a good winter coat. I didn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag, smiled again, and wished me a Merry Christmas.
That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat (a little tag fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked it in her Bible) in Christmas paper and ribbons and wrote, "To Bobby, From Santa Claus" on it. Grandma said that Santa always insisted on secrecy.
Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker's house, explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially, one of Santa's helpers. Grandma parked down the street from Bobby's house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the bushes by his front walk. Then Grandma gave me a nudge. "All right, Santa Claus," she whispered, "get going." I took a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the present down on his step, pounded his door and flew back to the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited breathlessly in the darkness for the front door to open. Finally it did, and there stood Bobby. Fifty years haven't dimmed the thrill of those moments spent shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker's bushes.
That night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus were just what Grandma said they were: ridiculous. Santa was alive and well, and we were on his team. I still have the Bible, with the coat tag tucked inside: $19.95.
May you always have LOVE to share, HEALTH to spare and FRIENDS that care.
And may you always believe in the magic of Santa Claus!
I have ~serious~ baby **lust**!
Oh my! We had a visit today at Debbie and Darcy's; they sure do make some gorgeous kids! LOL! Although I have to say, I am partial to little Mister #8... Isn't he he just the most adorable little man you've ever seen? I'm as proud as an Auntie! LOL! And he looks just like his big brother Danton! He's just sooo teeny tiny! Debbie said 7 lbs something today, I can't remember! My bad!
Donovan even held him for a while and then Dakota and I shared the rest of the time. He's quite content and Debbie is looking fantastic! Even her house is sparkling and her tree is up, with wrapped presents under there... she's putting us to shame! LOL! You truly are Super Mom Debbie... hats off to you! :OP And can't forget Dakota's picture with Keaton... they're birthday buddies forever now... Finally home after a whirl wind of another day... this week just zoomed by and I am SOOO glad tomorrow is Friday! I can sleep in on Saturday morning, then house cleaning, the Teddy Bear Toss hockey game on Saturday night with Kathy and Serge and kids, then Sunday is baking, Dylan and Blaine have firewood and the team is serving at the Senior's Dinner up in the Hart. Then it's one more week of work and then CHRISTMAS holidays! I so can't wait!
I should run, I haven't had any dinner yet (Donovan made the kids pancakes while I was in town at hockey with Willy!) and I am debating having a bath BEFORE Survivor tonight... Only tonight and Sunday to go. Although I must admit, I am not enjoying the show much anymore. So predictable and boring... Okay, I'm off! TTFN!
Christmas party time...
Had a lovely dinner at a Greek restaurant with the staff from MediChair tonight. It was so nice to see everyone in a social setting and not under the busyness and stress of "work". We had lots of laughs and made some good memories to recall next year...
Kathy and I went walking today at the Coliseum and stupid me, I forgot my runners at home and ended up walking in my work shoes... BIG MISTAKE! Can you say "D'oh?" I have huge blisters on the pads under my big toes and it's so friggin painful to walk! I know I won't be doing that again! But we will be getting together to walk though... it was nice to visit and chat, but I guess we're going to have to "pick up the pace" because a lot of those seniors were lapping us! LOL!
Donovan was my secretary at the hockey tournament meeting tonight while we were at the dinner. He did a good job taking notes for me and making sure he inserted his opinion where is was needed(or not! LOL!)... Hard to believe our home tournament is in less than a month now... lots of things to do to get ready for that too.
We're going to visit with Debbie and baby Keaton tomorrow after work. I have to get his presents to him before he grows too much and they don't fit him! Can't have that happening! I can't wait to sniggle him! I gotta remember to bring my camera to take some pictures too... If it's okay with Debbie, I'll post one on here so you can see how cute he is Nana!
Okay... I need to get this tired body into the tub and my bed! Night...
Doing the ~*~happy dance~*~ tonight!
Cuz I got me a Cricut... what's that you may ask? Only the coolest, newest electronic die cutter on the market! My husband spoils me!!! I've been playing all night learning how to use it, and it's quite easy actually! Now I hope my Christmas stocking will hold another cartridge or two and I'll really be a happy camper! Oh the things I can do... Too bad it's almost bedtime though! LOL! Oh well, tomorrow's another day!
Willy got home at the ungodly hour of 4am! And being the mean mom that I am, I made him get up and go to school today... he missed three days last week, and thankfully, tomorrow's 6am practice is optional... so we're opting out, but more so because he's got quite a cough and the coach wants the kids who are coughing to rest up a bit and recover. He would rather be there and "play"... I just checked back on the Victoria tournament website and the final scoring results were posted. Willy placed 13th overall out of all the kids at the tournament and had the most points of all the kids on our team... WTG Willy! You're awesome! :o)
I finished my Christmas cards tonight and they're ready to be mailed tomorrow morning. Not quite as early as I usally do them, but at least they'll still arrive before the big day! I still haven't put the beads back on the tree, but then again, I was in town until almost 7:30 tonight. The girls had dance and then we had some groceries to get and some stuff for Devin's class pot luck tomorrow... So it was another running around like crazy day and night, and I'll be so glad when my head hits the pillow tonight!
Work is going to be busy for the next couple of weeks... we just finished up year end and I'm packaging up all the gifts and day planners for the group homes and hospitals in the area. Keeps me busy with everything else I have, but I prefer to be busy than twiddling my thumbs!!!
Blaine told me tonight that he may be hopping on the company jet on Monday next week to fly down to Kamloops for the day looking at some equipment in a mill down there... hmmm... sounds like FUN!
Not too much more to tell... the snow is still melting; it poured rain most of the day today. At this rate, we won't have any snow for Christmas again this year! Man... I hate when that happens!
Okay, off to the tubbie I go... Night!
It's beginning to look (and smell!) a lot like Christmas...
As busy as this time of the year is, and even more so this year with me working, I do love all the hustle and bustle of trimming the tree, baking and wrapping the presents for under the tree... Well, make that trimming the tree ONCE not twice... as I had to do todayGot the tree all up yesterday and had it "perfect" in my eyes last night... I used only white lights this year for the first time, traded in my old blue and silver bulbs and went with a red/gold theme of bulbs and beeds... It was sooo pretty! Good thing I snapped some pictures because it FELL down in the middle of the night! Blaine was up for an overtime shift this morning and just about had a heartattack when he got up for work and found my "perfect" tree lying in a broken heap in the middle of the floor! Thankfully the tree was very thirsty, because the only mess there wasn't was water! Needles, broken bulbs, broken crystal ornanments I've had forever, broken baby's first Christmas ornaments from Donovan's first Christmas... Sigh... good thing for crazy glue! And my last thought before falling asleep was... "Sure hope the cats don't knock over the tree..." Guess I was asking for too much! Oh well, the tree is back to pretty well looking the same as the picture, I just have to re-string the beads tomorrow night.
So I made whipped shortbread, peanut butter kiss cookies, Dave's ginger sparkles, and sugar cookies. I did the sugar cookies first so the kids could decorate while I was doing the rest of the baking. I figure I'll make one more double batch of the whipped shortbread next weekend and that should do us. I also have to make the Skor Bit Bars next weekend, because I couldn't find any sweetened condensed milk in this darned city anywhere! Apparently, everyone else decided to do their baking this weekend too! LOL!
Got my Christmas cards mostly finished tonight. Just have to get the pictures in there, and should have them mailed by Wednesday at the latest...
Great Grandpa Moston will be on his way here via the train on the 22nd. The kids are very excited about having Grandpa come for Christmas. It won't be the same without having my sisters and their families for the holidays, but we'll live. My Dad is working over Christmas too, so they'll be up on the 27th to visit. Mom will have a quiet Christmas at home as Dad is dayshift, I think it will be her first Christmas by herself... :o(
Willy and the team are on their way home from the Island. They caught they 4 o'clock ferry over to T'wassen... they're expecting to be back in PG in the very early morning hours. The boys ended up 6th out of 10... I think they're pretty disappointed, but they'll live. Sometimes a defeat after a winning streak makes them want to work harder to "get it" next time. I think we're done traveling now until Boxing Day when they head down for a tournament in Burnaby.
Busy week ahead... ten more days of school! The countdown is on for the kids! LOL! If this warm weather keeps up, we won't have any snow left for Christmas. Then what are they going to? They're looking forward to skiing, tobagganing and playing outside in the white stuff, not mud! It can stay around -5 in my books and be good... just not -35! My work Christmas staff dinner is Wednesday night... I am looking forward to that. Blaine hasn't really had a chance to meet many of my co-workers, so it will be nice to be in a social setting where he can mingle and get to know the people I yak about at home!
Not much else to tell... going to head for my tubbie! My back hurts from standing all day! See... I really am getting old! LOL!
Night!
Happy Birthday to me...
Just a quickie post for now... Blaine and I are going out for dinner then heading to the rink to watch my other "son" Nathan play hockey in the Bantam B tournament here this weekend. If I can't watch my own boy this weekend, I might as well watch Willy's other "brother from another mother..."
Can't believe I'm 37 today...where in the heck does the time go? Never envisioned myself at this age for some reason... guess you're only as old as you feel!
The boys lost their game this morning to the Vernon Vipers, 7-2... Not what we were expecting, but maybe it's a wake up call for them after winning 8 games straight! I think they were feeling "untouchable" and that's no way to go into a tournament!
I'll try to do an update once we're home tonight... the boys play again tonight so I'll post results when I get them!
TTFN!
**Update: The team lost 4-1 to Victoria tonight... Esther's boy Matthew got the only goal! WTG Matthew! Willy got game MVP though... Woohoo buddy! There's my birthday present! Love ya!**
Thursday, December 07, 2006
Just a very quick update tonight...
The boys won their game this morning, 9-3. Willy scored one and got two assists! :o)
They play two games tomorrow... I'll update once I'm home from work!
TTFN!
Wednesday, December 06, 2006
Well, the boys are off to Victoria!
The boys headed out early this morning (at 6am) amidst snow flurries and yucky road conditions. Haven't had any updates on the hockey hotline yet, but I had heard that the boys were stuck waiting in a traffic line somewhere along the way because of a car accident, and so to pass some time, the boys got off the bus and sold their raffle tickets to the captive audience that they had! Great thinking guys! The boys play at 10am tomorrow morning against Juan de Fuca. I'll post updates as I hear them. Here is a link to the Victoria AAA hockey site so you can keep track of their progress as well... http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/front_pageesd.cfm?clientID=3017&leagueID=7877
Got my flu shot today. My arm isn't sore like I was expecting it to be. It kinda tingled all day and the nurse said it might feel like I was carrying around a brick on my shoulder for the next day or two... but so far, so good! Everyone at work got one because of how much we work with the seniors who are in a very high risk category. No sense in getting it ourselves!
Kirby is taking advantage of the ALL the snow we've gotten in the last week or two and is at the ski hill for some night skiing with his buddy Glen. It's very warm outside, about +5, so it's going to be kinda wet and slick, but they don't seem to care a bit! Donovan is watching a hockey game, Devin is torturing the cat, (Keni of course, never Koska!) and Dakota is playing on the laptop... Blaine is working a bit later tonight as they had a mini shut down on one of the boilers and it's his first shut down as the new assistant chief, so he wants to stay and make sure it all goes well!
Not much else going on tonight... without Willy here and his hockey, we actually get to stay home once in awhile! LOL! I might even sit my butt down in my scrapbook room tonight and DO something! Won't that be novel?
We're going to get our Christmas tree at the tree farm this year. Last year, we bought one off the lot, but it just wasn't the same as "tromping" through the snow making magical memories and asking the chosen tree if it would like to come home with us... Hopefully we'll bundle up on Saturday and off we go! Blaine will be working OT on Sunday and through the following week for the major shutdown at the one mill, then it's planning for the shut down at the other mill... So if I want the tree up this weekend, Saturday it is!
So that's it from my desk tonight... Have a good one!
**Updated: The boys are safe and sound on the ferry, so almost to their destination since they're going to Victoria from Vancouver. They play at 10am, tomorrow morning, so I'll update once I'm home from work tomorrow.**
Here's a bit of wisdom...
An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water, at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table... Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!
Great way to end the day... NOT!
Okay... I have finally had ENOUGH of all the danged snow falling and these darned "Pineapple Express'"... Rushed home from work today to get the girls ready for dance, and take Willy in to team ticket sales and I got stuck at the end of our driveway.! After snowing all day (again!), and the temperature hovering right around zero all day, it made for very slippery conditions. Granted, I was probably going a bit too fast to get into the driveway, but man! I was SOOO stuck! I had to wait until Blaine got home from work to dig me out! So needless to say, dance and ticket sales were cancelled for us! I think we have more snow now than we did over the whole winter last year! YIKES! Thankfully it's warmer than it was last week, but warmer apparently means more snow! LOL!
The highway was pure sheet ice and in town was down right dangerous! People slidding through intersections, not being able to stop. We had to dig out four different cars from work today because they couldn't move in the heavy wet snow... Those poor seniors shouldn't even have been out driving, let alone getting out of their cars with walkers and canes trying to get into the store! Good thing we have a lot of young men working at the store to help dig them out! I was worried I was going to get stuck at work too because when I parked this morning, I kinda slid into a snowpile and wondered all day if I was going to make it out. Well, I was able to back out just fine, but once I put it into drive, I kinda sunk into the slushy ice. I had to rock back and forth a couple of times to get myself going... once I was driving, it was okay, but I went around the corner from work and some guy in a truck came plowing out of a back alley and almost rammed me! My poor heart! I realize he was just trying to get out of the alley without getting stuck, but hey! Take a look first please!!!!
Got my scrapbook room all cleaned up and organized after supper. Amazing how strapping on your MP3 player can make time go so much faster! And best of all, I wanted to sit down and get some scrapping done! BUT... I didn't. I had a few other things to look after first, like another submission to the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine... now I have the bug! LOL! I submitted my "It's a Dad Kind of Thing..." mini book for the summer issue. I have another couple layouts I'd like to submit too, but I'll get those done another day.
Fifteen minutes to the final HERO'S until after Christmas... man, we're so addicted to this show! Monday nights just aren't going to be the same!!! I guess I should go make sure everything is ready for the kids bedtimes before we sit down to watch!
Night!
Create a Snowflake for the Salvation Army...
Here is a really cool place to go and create a snowflake to help the Salvation Army this Christmas Season... The snowflake I created is #3,129,620 You can search for it to have a look-see! The more snowflakes created, the more money Popular Front donates to the Sally Ann... HAVE FUN!!!!
Need a Snow Day?
It's been a busy few days around here... no real time to sit and blog and you wouldn't believe how much I missed doing it!
Dylan left for Dawson Creek at noon on Friday. They played their first game against DC that same night and won the game 13-2. They played again this morning and won that game 13-1... yikes! They continued their travels on to Fort St John this afternoon where they won that game 14-0! What a weekend for improving your +/- rating! They boys even changed it up and the defense played forward and the forwards played defense. Even as a D-Man, Willy still managed to get a hat trick today and four assists in that game alone! WOW! Blaine is just in at the bus picking Willy up from their trip. Then they have a day of woodcutting tomorrow. Thankfully, we can all sleep in a bit as they don't have to be there until 11am. The girls and I will be going into Canfor's kids Christmas party. They're roller skating with the "old style" roller skates... should be fun for some pictures anyhow!
Today I went into a cleaning frenzy and my poor old body is having a hard time handling it... I cleaned the upstairs top to bottom, changed the living room around, dung out my bedroom, changed it all around, had Blaine purge his drawers and get out all the old clothes he doesn't wear anymore, purged the papers at the computer desk, put all the CD's and DVD's into actual cases instead of those darned paper thingy's, and am still working on the laundry. Well, not at this minute, the rest can wait for tomorrow.
Last night Blaine and I went out for a dinner date to celebrate his new job, and our birthdays since we hadn't done anything for those either. We went to the Keg, our favorite place. It was a busy place last night though... a very noisy birthday party and what appeared to be a bridal shower... they were very rowdy, but hey, we weren't looking for romantic! LOL! After dinner we stopped and rented a few movies to have over the weekend: Click, The Fast and the Furious, Tokyo something, and The Davinci Code... LOVED the book, liked the movie. It was really good though. I highly recommend both! :o) The kids enjoyed Click and Kirby was glued to the F&F, said it had the best ending of a movie he could ever remember... so that must be saying something! After the movie store, Blaine and I went to the scrapbook store... what a guy hey? Sarah and I demo'd the Cricut for him to see how it worked and had a good visit.
Caught up with an old friend from Quesnel today... HI BARB! :o) Got the inside scoop on where to get me a Cricut Cutting machine for a good price. I want one for Christmas... maybe Santa will think I've been good enough this year? What do you think?
I am almost done my Christmas shopping... I have a few small things to pick up for the boys. Dakota was supposed to be done, but when I went back to SuperStore yesterday to pick up her gift, they had sold out and probably weren't getting any more! OH NO! Devin is no where near done... this age is sooo hard. She wants primping things... shampoo, make up, that kind of stuff. No fun for mom! LOL! And shopping for clothes for her is impossible... everything I suggest, she doesn't like... hmmm, where have I seen this scene before? Deja Vu perhaps! ROTF!
Have already received two Christmas cards in the mail this week. I haven't decided if I am even doing cards this year. I always do close to 100 and have every year since Blaine and I were together, but I get so disappointed when I don't cards back, that I swore last year, I wasn't going to go through all that work... and now with working, I don't know if I feel like it. I don't know, I'll probably change my mind in the end and do them anyhow.
I have got to start my Christmas baking... maybe tomorrow afternoon, but for sure next weekend. Willy will be leaving for Victoria on Wednesday, and it's my birthday on Friday, and we usually decorate the house and tree the weekend of my birthday. So that may not leave much time for baking... I guess we'll have to play it by ear and see how it goes. Also, it's the Bantam B tournament this weekend, and we'll go and watch the boys and see how they do. Gotta watch hockey even when my kid isn't out there... I'll cheer for his buddies though! :O)
Well, Blaine and Willy just pulled into the driveway... should go and greet my boy! Have a good night all!
